QTF is excited to announce a partnership with MEGC which will see the return of Festival of Touch to the Gold Coast for the next 3 years. The 2021 event will take place from 26 November to 5 December.

MEGC CEO, Jan McCormick, explained her excitement for the partnership by stating that, “The Gold Coast has an array of premier sporting venues and grounds, so it makes sense for the Festival of Touch to take place on the Gold Coast. We’re thrilled that the Festival of Touch will call the Gold Coast home for the next three years with a newly established partnership for 2021 until 2023.”

“The Festival attracts a significant number of participants and spectators from across Queensland, leading to a positive economic impact for the City,” continued Ms. McCormick.

“It is very exciting to have Major Events Gold Coast on board for the next 3 years supporting the Festival of Touch, which includes two of Queensland touch football’s iconic events in the Queensland State Cup and Queensland All Nations,” said CEO, Greg Denny.

Queensland State Cup (26-28 Nov), which is also supported by Tourism & Events Queensland is a pinnacle event for senior touch football participants, coming together to celebrate the sport of touch and creating pathway opportunities for those athletes wanting to represent their Affiliates and State.

“The Queensland Government is proud to support the Queensland State Cup through Tourism and Events Queensland’s Destination Events Program, and it is a feature on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.” Said the QDEP team.

Queensland All Nations (4-5 Dec), on the other hand, celebrates the heritage and culture of members of the touch community. Encouraging All Nations to come together, play some touch football, share their culture, and foster relationships and understanding between each other.

The Festival of Touch is much more than an average touch tournament with avenues for professional development and networking opportunities through the Affiliate Conference (29 Nov) and the Sports Performance Conference (30 Nov), both sponsored by the City of Gold Coast.

For schools in the area, we celebrate the love of Touch Footy with Beach Touch Gala Day (1 Nov), a real highlight for school-aged kids!

“We all know that sport can unite people and forge friendships for life. This newly created festival takes that unity to the next level. I am particularly pleased to see the opportunities for competitors with disabilities as well as educational programs for those who may not be able to take to the field” explained Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate.

He finished by saying, “my message to every Gold Coaster is ‘get out there over the 10-day competition and be inspired by these exceptional athletes.”
